RHD woes buying parts

Having stripped some weight from inside the car, I regret it in some ways.

The carpet was worn and the sound deadner smelt 'dank' from various leaks so it needed freshening up.

But the cost has been the family can't ride in it because its too hot in the back for the kids without the deadner and that takes away a bit from the fun of driving on the weekend with the top down and the family.

So I'm putting the deadner back in and the carpet, but I need new carpet. Originally I was going to go for RS style carpet but I think that will affect my resale here so I want an OE full carpet set for RHD.

I tried using the Regional Posting Section for the Aussie and NZ guys but after three days only 3 people have looked at the post and no replies.

I emailed three companies in the UK that I saw in 911&PW and none have gotten back to me (actually one had a dead email address and the message bounced back!)

So....anyone know where I can get a full new carpet set (other than factory!) for a RHD.

Thanks
Mark

Southbound trimmers www.southboundtrimmers.com

Forest fine www.forestfine.com/porsche

Haven't used either but heard good reports about Southbound

I actually can't see the carpet sets on Forest fine but I know they do them - £379 in Porsche Post

Ooops, sorry. I am too lazy to check the regional forums...

I am getting new carpet at some stage, but it is going to be made by copying the old carpet. I doubt anyone in NZ sells a "kit". The UK is a better bet.

Sorry Mark, I hadn't looked in the regional forum for a week either. I'd do what Cam suggested.... Take the old stuff to a competent trimmer and have a replica set made.

I had one thought though... Wayne Henig (owner of Noosa Cats and reputable porsche racer here in Qld) is always gutting his cars to make race cars of them. You could try him and see if he has an interior floating about. He should have an email/website under Noosa Cats.

Cool John - I'll try him. By the way how about the info on your aftermarket aircon. I'm getting desperate to get one and figure that being up North Qld before, you've had to deal with the humidity issue........

Thanks

Mark

Dave Nunn at Southbound is often too busy to answer his phone or emails, but keep trying. Many people in the UK swear by his products.

Telephone/FAX : 0044 (0) 1264 810080 or info@southboundtrimmers.com

Well Southbound doesnt answer its phone and the email link is a dud - got it bounced back five times. They also list the carpet on their site with a POA (thats helpful!! )

Forest Fire also haven't returned my email and while their home page says they make the carpet for 911, when you go to the 911 page there's no mention of carpet

Haven't contacted Wayne Henig yet but I gather he strips older cars and I want a new carpet set. Still I'll try....

Any other leads guys? Otherwise I'm back to making my own carpet but its too f###'n hot here to be doing this. I'll develop rust on the interior from all my sweat and start chasing leaks I dont have

Mark, Wayne strips new cars (Carrera Cup). I know until recently he has gone through a lot of 993 series cars.

Sorry, I still haven't got to my car to check out A/C.... pls forgive.

Hi Mark. A friend got a new carpet set in his car by getting an uphoster to copy his carpet set. It looks great and you can omit certain parts like those silly pockets in the footwells. And it was cheap. Good luck, Bill.

I'm back at work today, I just trimmed the other one to look the same The eye lash on that side is a bit short too. I think my social life (dating) may be a bit limited for a while.
