First Drive After a Couple of Months of 'Health Issues'

Great therapy!

So, I had total knee replacement on my right knee on May 4th. Everything went just fine (until it didn't), I followed all the rules and did all of the physical therapy. Progress was excellent. Then, exactly three weeks later, I lost consciousness and collapsed in the back of the house. Thankfully my wife, Linda, was there nearly instantly and called 9-1-1. The EMTs thought that I was just dehydrated (wrong!) and transported me to a large local hospital. The ER staff was concerned that I may have injured myself in the fall (I didn't) and did a CAT scan of my head and upper torso. The scan revealed I had suffered a massive bi-lateral pulmonory embolism! Both lungs were loaded with blood clots and the right side of my heart was three times its normal size. So the doctors did a procedure to 'vacuum' the blood clots from my lungs ... it took an hour and forty-seven minutes! The medical staff impressed on us just how close I had come to the checkered flag.

I spend five days in ICU and another several days in a cardiac unit before coming home. I was a sad specimin!

Anyway, last Saturday I went out to the garage, reconnected the Odyssey battery and turned the key. The car came to life, eager to just go somewhere. So, I contorted my new knee and my old knee into the car and settled into the drivers seat, and off we went.

What wonderful therapy this thirty-something car is! I love it!

This coming Saturday is the monthly get-together at Ed Mayo's place. You can be sure I will be there.

Close call!
Glad you're on the mend and on the up and up.

Lovely 491, the best therapy is air cooled therapy.

Stay well, be well.

So glad to hear that you are doing well! Bend, OR must be a wonderful place to be a Porsche owner... Fort Worth/Dallas, TX not so much. Too flat, too congested, and too many crazies on the road. I'm jealous!

Glad to hear you got thru it. Reminds me that we must be thankful for every day we have. An angel was watching over you, that day she was there with your wife! Enjoy your M491. I am in OKC, roads are just as straight here!

Cheers,

Grand
