Back on the road again.............
I finally got time to dig into the shifter controls to see what was wrong. All of a sudden about 2 months ago the shifter went from a nice tight pattern to something huge. Turned out that the shift coupler had blown out all the little roller bearings! The fix involved pulling the driver's seat and the inspection cover. I ordered a new coupler from PP and when it arrived I pulled the old one out and replaced it. I took the old one apart and will rebuild it with a set of nylon bushing to keep on the shelf for a spare. Unfortunately it is too hot to drive right now (temps around 100F!). When I rebuilt the engine about 10 years ago, I reinstalled all of the a/c bits but never got around to recharging the system. The rebuilt engine is a 3.3SS with twin plugs and Xdi crank fire ignition. Compression is 11:1 making it a fun driver!

Nice investigative work.
You need to live someplace not so hot. Or fix that A/C!
