Dyno Day-- Nyack, NY --JUNE 28th!

There will be a dyno day at Deman Motorsport in Nyack, NY on June 18th.

$100 per car, deposit due 2 weeks before the event.

You'll get 2, 3 runs (or more if necessary, no big deal there) with an A/F chart and a boost curve if your car is a turbo.

There were 15 interested over at rennlist, thus far the date has been a problem for 2, so we're down to 13. We need at least 10 to get the $100/car rate...but I dont think that'll be an issue.

Let me know if anybody's interested...

Hey,

Call me stupid, but what exactly can you do with the dyno? Check HP?, etc? How does it work?

By the way, I've had Rick do some work on my car....I live 10 min. from there.

thanks,

Essentially, a dyno checks the actual power YOUR engine is making THAT run, in THAT trim. I think Rick told me he has a pretty spiffy dyno, and if I'm right, you will get actual horsepower that gets to the wheels, which is more meaningful than flywheel power, as the bottom line is what gets to the ground is what you really care about!

Generally, you do a run or two to establish a baseline, then, start changing things, one at a time. Software changes, parts changes, etc. Maybe testing different mufflers, for example. The dyno (I think Rick's can do this...and more), will be able to back out the flywheel HP numbers so you will know how much driveline loss you have. Changing lubricants is a change some guys make to their drivelines to increase wheel HP.

Ricks a great guy, does great work, and you will have a great time, if nothing else!

Where do these runs occur? Are they done in a garage on a roller system....similar to inspection process?

thanks,
jon

with that many cars you should be able to get it done cheaper..........a local outfit who has a few "mobil" dynos rent their machines and services...i think it was 1200/day if i remember correctly.

JBripps, sorry, It's the 28th.

A lot of people have backed out once the date was confirmed..its gonna be a tight squeeze to getting the 10 we need...

Bell, that is correct, I have another shop we could do it at for $1200/day...however I would rather do it at a Porsche shop. This is a moot (sp??) point because with the number of people I have now, the $1200/day is more expensive that $100/car.
