1976 911 California Smog Exhaust Help

Hello,

I've been lurking here for awhile, but my first post. I recently bought a 1976 911S with the 2.7 liter engine. I live in California and since it's not a 1975 I will need to smog it. It has had the thermal reactors removed, and the fan was swapped to an 11 blade. I have a smog pump bolted in without the fan belt.
My question is whether it is possible to install a later model exhaust (3.2?) that has the catalytic converter in place of putting the thermal reactors back on. I realize it might not pass a "visual" but I have a guy where as long it passes the sniff test I will be good. My question is whether a later exhaust would actually fit my car with the thicker flanges, etc?
I attached a couple photos of what I am hoping would work. Any help would be great!

I have a friend in Pasadena with a variety of cars who also has A Guy who will pass a car as long as it passes the sniffer, never mind the visuals. If you have a guy like that, you're lucky. A cat will probably give you a cleaner exhaust than a thermal reactor, but you might be best off with a stock 78-79 SC exhaust without an O2 sensor, which your car also doesn't have.

Good point about the O2 sensor. Thank you. So a 78-79 should fit my car then?

Come to think of it, since all you need to do is pass the sniffer a plug in the bung would be fine. The above looks fine as long as the cat is good enough.
