Any 1975 911S 911.44 CAL emissions original car on the forum?

Hello Pelicans,

I am almost finishing my 8 year old battle to try and restore a 1975 911S with a CAL emissions system.
Many moons ago I decided (against all odds) that I want to restore this once removed system. I am paying the consequence of this decision till present but there is no holding back.
There would be enough stories to write a about it but long story short I'm still struggling to understand where some of the nuts and bolt go and how they should look like as 99% of it is EOL looong time ago.

Is there ANYONE with a 1975 911.44 engine car which still has the original smog system in place who would be so kind and take a picture here and there from time to time?

With Best Regards
Marcin

Here a Before pic of my 77 Cal Spec 2.7, was air pump belt disconnected but now entirely removed. I believe the 2.7’s are all the same set up and CA compliant, 74-77 didn’t have Cat converters. The only engine items are the air injection pump and the air lines (octopus) underneath, I don’t know if you still have that attached which I understand is a big headache to remove and seal ports, nor did you mention if you intend to replace or still have the thermal reactors and heat exchangers - Another headache. All I can share is that there are 3 nuts that attach air pump to timing cover studs and two bolts for the upper bracket, hose is clamped to pump ans port in the engine tin that leads to the injectors. I’ll try and post a clearer pic later of the After removal, showing the engine if you need it.

Hi EC900

Many thanks for Your input. I really appreciate it.
I managed to get all the major components of the smog system.
What bothers me the most at the moment are 3 major questions

1. Should the Airbox snorkel be a Long one or a short one for the 1975 911.44 engine
2. Where does the mounting tab marked red attaches to

3. Finally what should be the correct bracket for the EGR valve?
Both are sold under the same part number 91111317504

1.

or 2

Hey Attylla,

I have a CA 1975. You can see a lot of pics in my build thread of all the original equipment.

1. The snorkel should be a long one. To my knowledge, it reduced intake noise, so it was CA delivery option for 75.
2. That tab goes into the backside of the engine tin, and uses a regular engine tin bolt to affix near the on board oil cooler.
3. If I recall, the bottom bracket is the familiar looking bracket. You can cross reference it with my for sale ad (search my user name for all posts I've started) and you will see a classified ad post when I listed all the emissions equipment including this bracket in a for sale ad.

Let me know if you have any questions.

1. It had a long snorkel from the factory, but I doubt a smog tech would ding you for a short snorkel.
2. Attached to the tin.

3. The second pic is correct. The first pic lacks the hole for EGR flow and would fail the functional test.

Thank You 75 911s
Thank You dannobee

That's a great help. Much appreciated.
I've managed to locate the long snorkel and the bracket.

Oh and 75 911S I went through the whole thread with a 75 car. it's brilliant.
Found a ton of useful picture there.

I'm still on a hunt for a picture where the oil line mounts to the engine tin.

Thank You guys

Where the oil line lines up with is an engine tin bolt on the backside of the motor. Not a great pic, as the position of the oil line is too high (they probably pushed the oil line up to get it out of the way, The engine tray or tin on the left side there where it joins the back piece has a bolt securing it, that bolt also holds the oil line afaik.

Ignore the yellow box, that's showing the drain nipple from a different thread:

Today after going through 75 911 rebuild thread I discovered Porsche PET doesn't seem to contain two of the little but important parts

These are some sort of Tabs? which on one hand side are bolted to the engine cover but on the other they allow to tie down the hot air hose clamps

The last missing piece is the small clamp holding down the harness for oil pressure sensor

Does anyone recognize these?
Do they have a Porsche part number?
Maybe some has them for sale???

Any help much appreciated.

I did manage to track down the harness hold down tab from the last picture
but I'm still struggling to understand what is the interface between hot air hose clamps and engine cover bolts.

Can anyone help. Please

Marcin

This small clamp for the harness I also miss on my 911.93 1974.
And I couldn‘t find in the part list.
So please, is there anybody who know the partnumber?
Thanks Martin

Going off memory here, but I don't think there was any interface between the hot air clamps and the shroud. As you can see in the second picture, there is only a hole in the shroud for the ignition wire clip. Did you cross reference my pic with other midyears with the heat pipe still intact? I'm not sure those clamps are stock in that location, and I can't remember if that was because the hose was split for convenience to access the air box, or that is stock.

Did some more research.

The interface is this tab 91121127700
Looks like this

Also there should be a plastic tie-wrap (single-use) 99951301040 holding it down

The hot air tube is only secured at one point located at 1:00 P.M position.
The tie-wrap was naturally replaced with a clamp over the years.

Both parts are still available from Porsche, not crazy expensive either.

Interesting! I have not seen that clamp. The tie-wrap makes sense.
