1975 911S Help…
I have a “newish to me” 1975 911S Sportomatic that seems to have some items that I don’t understand and was hoping that someone could point me in the right direction. The car has be in my family’s possession for almost 20 years but has been parked for around 10 with some alleged issue that I couldn’t explain. This summer I cleaned it up, gave it a tune up and it seems to run alright.
First issue I want to address is that the temp gage isn’t reading. I looked at the location where the sender is supposed to be, right of the fan, next to the pressure sender, and there is just a plug in the port there. No wire hanging disconnected or anything. Is ther an alternate location this sender could be? Second is that this has the CIS injection system and I noticed that the sleeves seem to be able to wiggle somewhat in the bore. Is this normal? I’m not opposed to replacing them but I was looking at the intake and someone staked the injector sleeve bores. I’m going to have to figure out how to remove the staked material to remove the sleeves if they are supposed to be tight. Thanks for the help! ![]()

The sleeves are supposed to be staked. Easy to grind away with a dremel.

Do a pressure test.........
A simple pressure test using a smoke generator will tell you if the sleeve or o-ring is leaking. Replacing the fuel injector o-ring is simple and straight forward. Removing the sleeve/s in situ is not recommended. Due to the age of the sleeve/s, they are brittle and could easily crumble into pieces and drop down into the motor. The recommended procedure is to remove the intake runners and perform the removal on the bench.
