Now I need a different turbo sump, which one?

Found out last night that my original turbo sump is to long and hits the drivers side exhaust pipe. Is this normal? Do I have to modify my sump or is there a different model I need? Thanks

Anyone? PET shows two different P/N's but does not explain. Thanks

cowtown 05-28-2003 10:13 AM

Len, I've got both types at home. Will post pics after 6pm PST if you like.

lendaddy 05-28-2003 10:27 AM

That would be great, Are you selling them?

cowtown 05-28-2003 11:18 AM

Will do. I'm not selling yet, because I'm still juggling parts on my engine. Once the situation settles down I might part with one or the other - but I don't know which one yet!

Hey Len, while I have your attention, do you think you could post a picture that shows the mounting area of your wastegate? I'm still not sure about that flange thing I was talking about earlier.

various suppliers sell a small sump kit with hoses and fittings to do away with the stock setup. it also doesn't vent to the air cleaner. in the $100 range.

just happened to have one laying around.

Wow thanks guys! I like the idea of the aftermarket piece and doing away with a little more plumbing. Colin I have the rectangular one now. Thanks for the pics. Also, what stage are you at now? Last I read you were thinking of turning her over.

lendaddy 05-29-2003 04:58 AM

JW, can you point me in the direction of a retailer? My search efforts have been fruitless. Or I will gladly pay you a premium for yours if you have no need for it. Thanks again!

john walker's workshop 05-29-2003 07:12 AM

that one's for my car. powerhaus sells them. try pelican first of course.

lendaddy 05-29-2003 07:17 AM

Will do, thanks JW.

It's running! I've done the breakin procedure in the garage and driven around the block a few times. I'm fighting a couple mysterious oil leaks that could be rocker shafts or valve cover issues. Just retorqued the head studs and tightened the rockers.

I'm waiting on a new wastegate spring because the boost was going wayyyy too high (15-16psi) for a new engine. I want to run stock boost for now. So after that I'll be doing some victory laps around the neighborhood. Then I'm going to put in a Carrera cooler and turn to the suspension.

B&B's turbo sump is the same as the one illustrated in John Walker's response. BTW, it was the only piece in the 930 header kit that did NOT have a fitment issue.

B+B fitment issue? really? http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/rlwhore.gif
