Question Ok to remove spark plug grounding wires?

I was looking at cleaning up the appearance of my engine bay and read the related article on the Pelican site. The author says he doesn't believe in the spark plug grounding wires, you know the ones that attach to the alternator housing. Removing these wires will clean the appearance of my engine but is this OK or my car. BTW I have an '83 SC. Thanks,
Rich
