Oil leak experts?

I have oil leaking from a couple of the threaded studs that hold on my sump plate. Any suggestions on how to fix? Thanks

Yep, when you change your oil, drop that sump plate as well. The best known method here is to double up the gasket that goes under it when you reinstall. I think Pelican even recommends two of them when you select the product in the catalog.

there should always be 2 gaskets...one above the strainer plate and one above the strainer..plus use the silicone nuts and aly washers

Ok, so I pulled the sump plate and it had 2 gaskets as recommended. Can I use gasket sealant?

I cannot tell from the picture, but I think the drain plug is supposed to be at 3 o'clock if you are laying on your back looking up at the plate. It points towards the 1,2,3 bank. That way the suction tube fits in the recess and the hole in the screen.

Thanks, so the drain plug should be rotated 90 degrees to the driver side and not towards the back of the car as pictured?

Use brand new nylock nuts. A couple of those studs thread all the way thru to the sump and oil will travel down the threads. Only way to stop it is with the nylock sealing it on the threads.

Yes, if the suction tube from your oil pump is at 9:00 o'clock like mine (on your back looking up, with legs out the rear of the car for 9:00 o'clock or the 4,5,6 side), then rotating your drain plug 90 degrees gives the tube the most freedom. Not sure there is a lot of interference though as you have it in front.

Of course the hole in the screen has to go with the pump suction tube.
