Checked It Out

That was a damn amazing event!!

I loitered around all the cars I recognized from Pelican, sweated profusely in the sun and lingered hoping to meet all of you alas you were all elsewhere… (probably doing the same thing!)

Anyhow, everyone who showed their cars brought something unique and it was (for the air cooled set) a real demonstration of how these cars become extensions of their owners personalities. Screw concourse, this was what makes 911’s awesome!

Hope to see you all next year and if if the gods are willing with my car too!

The “CheckedItOut” organizers from Chicago are a great bunch!! I met some of them at DRT just before COVID took over the land back in early 2020. I was hoping to make the drive from CLE but life got in the way. This air cooled focused Porsche event has a special giving heart.

I wore an onion on my belt because it was the style at the time.

It was a great show. I posted the ~40 pics I took in my build thread this morning if anyone is looking for some of the highlights.

It's held on a Saturday. I work Saturdays. That explains it. I guess I'll just have to be happy with Zuffengruppe 5.

This show has an interesting back story. Some awesome Porsches will gather all for a good cause.

What started out as an outlaw/misfit Porsche gathering has escalated and now hosts Porsche Classic's Restoration Challenge. They use various Chicago artists to create their swag designs and donate profits to great local charities. Even with corporate support, it's still a pretty edgy show. I've gone every year and it keeps getting better.

The pics I took this year are up in my build thread.
If we start a dedicated CIO22 thread, I'll share them there as well.

Great show and great times.
I very much like getting to put faces to the names and cars I see online.
