1972 911 Rear Bumper fitment

Hi Guys,

Spend the weekend with a mate fitting up the rear bumpers on my 72 911. When mounting the bumpers flat to the chassis rails I have about a 3mm gap under the lights along to the rear quarters. (not enough for the bumper rubbers)

Bumpers are dansk reproduction and will most likely be the issue. Anyone on here run spacers or shims to help open up the required gap?

Anyone know the ideal gap to seat the rubber properly?

Cheers!

I had to use few washers to shim mine ('69, not '72 but I believe the bumpers and mounting are the same). The PET does call out shims so I believe there is some expected fitment to be addressed.
You'll need to play around with the number of washers and whether they go under the front or the rearward bolt. I wound up with two washers (1mm or so each) under the rearward nut no one side, and one washer on the other.
