Are these standard or sport seats?

It’s a 1990 964 C4 cab. I measured at the widest spot (5” for standard and 7” for sport) and came up with a 6” measurement. I’m looking to order new covers. Many thanks.

A more sideways pic would help.

Measure the depth of the side bolster at its widest point. 5" is standard and I think Sport is closer to 7".

Look like comfort (standard) seats to me.

It's often hard to tell from photos of the side bolsters on the upright section - but, at least for SC Sport seats, if the bottom side bolster is separate from the actual pad you sit on - eg you have to get your hand between the two when treating the leather - then Sport seats. The bottom cover on comfort seats is one-piece and there's no gap.

Wouldn't swear to that still being the case for the later seats, but I have a feeling it may be (based on a dim recollection of a 944 with 86-up Sport seats).

Thanks for the replies. The bottom seat cushion (where my ass sits) is one piece covered. The back cushion (where I put my back) has a separate insert. The widest part of the back isn’t 7 inches for sure but does measure 5.5”-6”.

Nah, but I'd suggest finding a good upholstery place, because fitting is key...

If the covers are junk/don't fit right, nothing will save them - but a poor job of fitting excellent covers (it's not rocket surgery - but like many things, there is skill/tricks involved and experience definitely helps) will leave it looking like something nested in it anyway.

When I asked my upholstery guy if he'd fit leather covers, he explained that he could custom make leather covers to pattern (eg the original covers), using better leather *and fit them* for less than I could buy a set of leather covers ready-made for.

Which made that kind of a no-brainer. really..

My upholstery shop do great work but must not work on air-cooled Porsche seats very often because they couldn't identify the difference between sport seats and comfort seats... Given my seats were so old that the sport bolsters looked like comfort seat bolsters, I decided to buy high quality covers and replacement foam from Lakewell and have the upholstery shop do the install. I'm super happy with the results!

Re: original post, if they're anything but 4 way (height adjustments front and rear) power, they're not factory sport seats.

Ian C2. Thanks for clarifying. Standard seats it is. You have a set of seats or seat covers?

If you can use the seats , either as replacements or temps as yours get recovered , or any combination of scenarios , they’re yours for a small price ….
Call Dorian at autos international , arrange collection or shipping , and treat his staff to a Christmas THANK YOU , and they’re yours .
Obviously , Dorian will be contacting me to make sure this is ok .
Merry Christmas
Ian
