Has anyone shipped using Montway?
I'm wondering if anyone has had direct experience shipping with these guys. Due to finances, I need to either trailer cross country using a u-haul trailer (discussed in another thread), or go with Montway. I'd like to know if anyone has actually shipped with them and what their experience was.

I've used them a couple of times. Remember it's a broker so you have them as support but you'll end up dealing with the driver directly for pickup and delivery. There will be large variance in their quality of services.
I've typically gone through uShip first to get quotes from multiple brokers. Occasionally you'll get lucky and find some family business that is line with your shipment and do yours for cheap. I once had a father and son tow my 911 and 944 from Michigan to South Carolina in a really nice enclosed trailer for $1700 total. |
I used them to ship enclosed from an out of state dealer to my house. They were reasonably priced and had decent communication. The driver was what appeared to be an Albanian teenager, but he drove stick well and pulled the car out of the trailer with a massive grin. I think he was more excited than I was lol

I've used them a few times and have been happy with each trip. They seem to use drivers with less nonsense than Intercity and others I've used. I will continue to use them in the future.
If you run the numbers on gas, food, and housing...you may find the numbers are alarmingly similar, even with a flight. Factor in your time and it's over...Unless you're already driving across the country, it's hard to make towing worth it. |
