Front wheel (bearing) noise
Hi,
My driver-side front wheel occasionally makes some noise. It's not the groan that I generally associate with wheel bearings, but more of a "chick... chick... chick...". If I had to describe, it's kind of like if you were to drive on a polished concrete floor with some double-stick tape on one of the tires. That sort of sound. Anyway, there's only so much that rotates in the front, so I'm assuming it's the wheel bearing (not brake pad rubbing as light braking does not change the sound). I guess question here is, if folks are familiar with this sort of sound and if this is a "repack and should be OK" or just replace the wheel bearing? I'm kind of assuming the latter, but y'all have much more experience with this than me, so just wanted to run it by. |

That doesn't sound like a bearing issue.
You sure it's not the brakes? That's pretty normal for brakes after the car sits. Rock in the tire? Something else hitting per wheel rotation? |

Ok, thanks for the reply. I'll keep digging. Of course the sound isn't present when I jack up the front wheel. I may just re-pack the inner bearing and do some inspection for piece of mind, but will hold off on replacement.

Rock in the tire or something on the rotor.
