Why does my SC coupe window lower too far ?
The passenger window of my ‘82 SC will lower well below the edge of the door, enough to run the roller off the window regulator track and get stuck down. I’ve read everything I can find and looked at all the parts in the door but can figure it out.
My drivers door looks the same to me but it stops just inside the door. What am I missing? |
I think targa/cabs are different than coupes. This thread might help: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/919700-does-your-passenger-window-go-all-way-down-83-targa.html

I’ll check that pivot. The window rolls up and down normally as long as you don’t let it drop too low which I wouldn’t think it would do without a return spring.

There is an adjustment on the door under the door card.

Cheap fix is a rubber pad strategically placed under the mechanism at the bottom of the door.

That slot is an up travel adjustment for a targa I think, even though the Bentley manual shows it for a coupe. My door doesn’t even have that hole.

Can anyone shed some light on what is supposed to stopping the downward travel of the window?
|
Well, I figured out what is going on. I am missing a stopper that is metal with a plastic insert. Here is a picture of the type of regulator I have with an arrow pointing towards the missing stopper.
If anyone has one of these on a junk regulator I would love to buy it. It’s for the passenger side.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1663613437.jpg |
that is what i call very easy solution if you take your time..sorry i do not that piece..

Here is the stopper in action(window down) on my drivers door. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1663617373.jpg |
When I bought my car it came with doors that were partially reassembled and random bags of hardware and miscellaneous stuff that I have saved. Last night I looked for the stopper in all of the boxes and could not find it but apparently I overlooked one box. I just found the original stopper for the regulator !
So stoked ! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1663618445.jpg |
