Mounted 2.7 Badge
All,
Finally got around to mounting my 2.7 badge. This is just a plate and no brackets to secure to the back hood. After going through all the posts (I'm still not sure how long it will last) I went with the 3M Extreme Mounting tape. All the posts I read said at speed won't come off so I went with it. I actually made an attempt at securing the badge with posts and bolts.....never worked out. Just went with the tape. ![]()

Mine has been on several years with whatever mounting tape it came with. Seems to be okay but I would’ve liked the posts….

Keep an eye on it. I used the 3M Extreme and after a year found it laying on the bottom of the grill. Between the sun and the heat coming off the engine, the adhesive gave out.

Ive used that 3m trim tape on a bunch of stuff, it has kept a carbon wicker on the back of my gt3rs wing for 10 years... at 150mph.... seems to stick.

The Porsche part has the tape already on one side, for those wondering.

The one I got didn't have the tape. Its just a flat insignia 2.7. What I tried......took a small piece of metal that had 2 bolt holes already in it, used some JB Weld to attach to the back of the the plate. Used bolts and washers to attache to the grill. Perhaps I didn't let the JB Weld cure long enough as it was loose. Pulled it off and went with just the tape. Open to ideas....

I thought these were clipped in from the factory. Can't offer any more advice than what's been stated. I can however plug the guy who made my 3.0 badge. It is factory looking, if they ever made one, and uses 2 bolts with a backing plate to keep it secure. His name is Jim Tidwell.
As a cheap insurance maybe some loops of black thread.

![]() We hang a lot of badging around here. Newer Porsche using the same type of adhesive as the 2.7 badge I bought. After prepping with alcohol and applying them, they handle pressure washing from minimum wage lot techs, so no issues… |

That 3M tape is superior so long as it’s the type for labeled automobile trim and it’s on very clean, really smooth, flat or slight curved surfaces.
Perhaps you can use a 2-part epoxy to glue on a flat head screw to make a stud. If the badge has a solid flat surface maybe try that route with a flat head bolt, but the bolt head might be too small and epoxy would be better. One thing I’ve done was using strong Neodymium magnets to hang plastic sheeting by using an 2 part epoxy. Here’s a pic of how I attached magnet to a closet bolt to use to hang plastic sheets from corner beads to contain dust when sawing or doing drywall. Last edited by EC900; 09-16-2022 at 02:11 PM..
