Strut Insert Replacement - Spacer Question
Hi all,
In the process of replacing the front & rear shocks on my 1980 911SC and I noticed this spacer (?) on the top of the strut. The car was lowered previously (American car) but the shocks were not changed at that time. Should this spacer have been / be removed? The new inserts are the Bilstein B8 sport strut/ shock. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1664126856.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1664126461.jpg Many thanks, Arthur |
The car can be lowered with the spacers in place. You could remove the spacer and then raise the front end of the car to achieve your previous height.
I would think it best to leave the spacers out like the ROW cars if you want a lower height. Not sure if there is a benefit. |
Remove the spacer. It's purpose was to give the shocks proper travel at the higher height setting. If you go euro or lower, definitely remove.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I figured as much and have removed them. They make a good paperweight…
