Full 915 tranny with 3 liters

With three liters in the 915, does some ooze out of the fill hole?
I decided, car was not quite level so when it came out. Ive since tried to level it to see what happens.

Curious if some fluid should ooze out some when full or not.
Or does it hurt to add a bit more so it oozes some when level?

Cheers

6 pints or until it comes out the filler hole.

I put 2x6 blocks under the left tires and pour 3 liters in using a long hose and large funnel. It’s the fastest and easiest way to do it. You don’t have to check if the suspension has “rested” to a level position. The FSM says approx 3 liters, the difference is how well the trans was drained of the old oil.
A really hot temp drain shouldn’t take more than 20 minutes. And 10 for the refill, and plug replacement.
Cheat sheet note, heat the new oil in the jug to 110f or so, it pours so much quicker.

that's what I did. Slightly raised the left side so they were generous 3 litters going in.

Tube and funel method too.

Mike,

With car on a lift and horizontally leveled, you will be able to fill the 915 transmission (no cooler) just a little bit over 3 liters before it starts to over-flow. I usually have less than a liter left from a gallon of Swepco 101. Do not over torque the fill and drain plugs.

I just hand-pumped 3 liters of swepco this afternoon. That was annoying! In the process learned that I was down close about 3/4 of a liter .

Tony, good to know.

So if I overfill a tad, then let the car sit on the ground with fill plug off, any excess should drain out?

I two used the hand pump, but as I approached 3 liters some oozed out of my not so level setup. So it’s unclear how much I have in the trans. Probably very close to 3 pints though, so am I being the “molehill guy again” worrying about amount?

PS A level lift would be sweet, it is not in my Christmas list, yet!
