Which brake pads - difference in these two
Time for new brake pads. Mostly stock '87. Street car driven with "spirited" enthusiasm. Have Textar's on it now and they are OK. Dusty and stop alright.
Narrowed down to factory OEM Porsche pads or Porterfield R4-S's. About the same price. Anyone have real world comparison's of how these two compare? Ideally would prefer a little less dust and a little better bite.

I've installed Porterfields in a variety of my older 911's and my 944 turbo, they perform flawlessly, they are very quiet, which had been a huge problem on my '72 with 930 brakes and Textar pads.
Just installed on my 3.6 powered '83 SC and the car stops phenomenally. Great bite warm and very good bite cold. I have zero complaints on all the cars, and a huge improvement on my '72

I've made that same switch. Porterfields!
I bedded mine in like they say to do with their race pads and no issues. |

Yes the R4S are great from stone cold pads to well driven canyon carving speeds . up to 110 - 120mph and hard braking repeatedly , they are street pads so you can abuse them to a point of fade , that is just the driver not understanding brakes . If you do fade them they will come back and perform well enough until you can rebleed the brakes Ian

R4-S, inexpensive and work very well in the application you are intersted in.
Cheers
