Question Zenith 40 TIN Throttle Plates

A few questions regarding the throttle plates on Zenith 40 TIN carburetors
  1. Are they meant to be flat? Below is the profile photo of one of ours. If yes to flat, can I just hammer it back to flat and reuse it?
  2. Are the edges supposed to be beveled? I watched a Weber rebuild video and they were careful to point out that the edge was beveled and it mattered which side was oriented up. Ours do not have a similar edge bevel.
  3. When adjusting the throttle plates, is the small hole in the carb sidewall meant to be visible from above or below when fully closed?

Thank you.

Here is a photo showing the small hole in the carb sidewall near the throttle plate when closed.

They should be flat, I would replace the damaged ones - they are available. The progression holes relationship to the throttle plate is is determined by the throttle stop screw. When you set your idle speed it pretty much just is where it is
