Converting my '87 convertible top operation to a 993
For those of you with early model electric roof convertibles did you know you can convert the control module to the one from the 993 and then operate the top with the engine running and handbrake on. Cool conversion (update). You need an adaptor from the factory which is only HK$300 so pretty cheap.
My 87 control module has gone south so I'm looking for one from a wrecked 993. Anyone near a wrecking yard, could you please ask if they have the control module for the electric roof. Factory units are about US$600 new. |
You could try emailing Aporschapart or Swan Porsche Parts in Aus.
In my experience, Swan may take longer to reply to your email, but they're more likely to be a few dollars cheaper, despite the extra freight. |
Um. Wayne, just wanted to reiterate...
Both of the above are wreckers/breakers. ;) |
Just get the old unit repaired, about $150.
Check out this website (systemsc.com). They repair these units. Good luck Lorenfb |
