Quarter Window Weather Seal Replacement

Is there a trick or tool that will help to ease the installation of the rubber seal? I'm having a hard time getting the seal to fit snuggly into the metal trim channel. The metal trim is not new. I've only removed the window and the old seal.

Part#: 901-543-901-20-M260 purchased from Pelican Parts

Thanks,
Ducky

There is a guy on youtube named "Mike" that has a vid series restoring a longhood. He goes through putting these back together. I think he uses glycerine for all his seals.

I found this in the early911sregistry forum.

https://www.early911sregistry.org/forums/showthread.php?98900-Pop-out-1-4-panel-window-seal-help-needed&highlight=quarter+window+seal+replacement

Soak the seal in hot water for ~10 min to make it more pliable. Use Windex and spray the inner part of the seal. Apply pressure to snap the seal into the track of the window trim/frame. I will try this method and report back.

I'm happy to report that the hot water soak plus Windex worked. It wasn't a cake walk, but I was able to get the seal to properly seat onto the frame channel. One tip is that you should start at the vertical edges and work toward the small rounded edge of the frame. This was done on my 72'.

Cheers!
Ducky

That is great news as I have four windows to do so this thread is very helpful.
I’m wondering if anybody has installed part #90154349320 which is a simple rubber piece that is supposed to be installed on the hinge side of the window.
See pic below.

Looking forward to some Pelican providing a guiding light.
Cheers,
Johan

As I recall, I used Armorall when I did mine, to make the rubber a bit slippery. It was still very difficult, and my fingers were quite sore the next day.

I have not seen this piece before, so I'm curious as to where it go exactly.

My fingers were sore from trying to install it dry . The Windex spray works nicely and dry fairly quickly.
