Need to ID broken wire - don't yet have diagram
Recently purchased '86 911 Targa.
I don't yet have a wiring diagram or Bentley. Both are on the way, but until they get here, I've got a dangling wire under the car that I'm trying to ID. It's actually two wires together in a black insulator. The wires are grey with brown stripe and light green with a yellow stripe. It's hanging under the engine bay. I'd also take a link to a good wiring diagram if one is available. I've been searching, but haven't been able to Google my way into one. I did find colorwiringdiagrams.com and have ordered a wiring diagram from them, but I'm hoping to find what these wire(s) are before those that I ordered arrive. |
Backup light switch on transmission...I think. For wiring diagrams I like my old Haynes manual.

Thanks very much. I didn't know Haynes manuals had wiring diagrams?! Thanks for the tip.

They have, but you'll need very good eyes or a good pair of glasses. And they stop at year 85, even with the second edition that is supposed to go up to 89. They didn't bother to include schematics for 86 thru 89.
Get the Bentley and, if you can, the Porsche Workshop Manual as a complement for original schematics. |

That is the schematic I found in my Haynes. Cor codes are German, of course. GR=Grey, GN=Green, GE=Yellow, and BR=Brown.
