Show me your cookies...

Just picked up some standard 15 x 7s with the black centers and anodized lip. I am going to use them for the time being as shop rollers. But then a PCA calendar page caught my eye of an early maroon colored speedster wearing cookies finished in plain aluminum. The car looks striking with the wheels...it just works. On the other hand, I know of an early dark green SWB racecar out here with light green cookies that looks ...disgusting. I owned a signal orange targa with black centered cookies that received lots of compliments. As these wheels are considerably cheaper that fuchs, people tend to get more carried away with refinishing cookies...taking chances that they normally would not with their fuchs. On the outside chance I decide to have these refinished, some ideas would be helpful.
Let's see what is out there.

Don't be bashful

actually I rather like the look of cookies. it's kind of a shame they are so looked down on.

now, that orange targa. words fail me.

except maybe one.......... hideous

ps. oops, sorry. I get it now you live in the mountains and that's your snowplow. good thinking, best use yet for a targa. especially with a bumper like that.

Oh...you are funny

Much like the "cattle catcher" on steam trains in the late 1800s. The orange car found a home in Texas where there is not much snow...but apparently armadillo's are more likely to get "plowed".
As to the fact that I live in the mountains, I have intentionally bred snow eating dogs. No need to plow.

I really do like the look of cookies. but in all honesty I think with black centers they're lost. they need a bright color to highlight the attractive centers. they look great in a satin silver.

they're light, cheap, good quality, and good looking.

here's a thought. has anyone seen widened cookies? 8's or 9's would look pretty cool. add an inch to the inside and have 'R' cookies. and they're CHEAP!

you watch. they'll go like the fuchs 14's. a couple of years ago you could hardly give them away. now they're bringing real money.

I don't have a better photo of my cookie cutters but this one shows the front tire. They were nicely finished by a PO in a neutral/original color; very glossy and shiny. They are "keepers" IMHO.

Don - There was a car I saw a few years ago that had the rear cookie cutters widened to 15x8. They looked very beefy, great looking combo. I wish I had a photo - Matt

From R&T's article by Georg Kacher last year, euro '78 SC Targa with cookie cutters:

My car, which I'd like to get to look similar, by installing correct size tires (185/70R15, 225/65R15) and lowering to Euro ride height. Silver centers would be the icing on the cake. Think I could get there from here?
