84 Wiper mechanism rebuild
I took out the wiper mechanism assembly so I could remove the dash wiring loom for refurb.
One of the rotating posts (which the wiper arm fits to) has quite a lot of play in the plain bearing. I saw you can get rebuild kits for the early car wipers, but does anyone know if new bushes are available for the later cars, or has anyone done this themselves? I tried searching here but didn't have much luck finding anything relevant. Many thanks. |

Restored dash loom ready to go back in.
![]() A few of the wires had melted insulation so looks like there had been an overload on one of the circuits. There were general cracks/perished insulation on a few other wires, and some butchery by a PO. The only bit I didn't take back to stock was the heater, as this had been hacked around and the car doesn't have a centre console anyway - took the opportunity to modify it a bit so it can run a PWM controller for the fresh air blower with a discrete hidden speed knob but still control the on/off from the normal heater control switch. I've stripped a bunch of other unnecessary wiring out of the car (it's a 3.0 RS replica) and updated the wiring diagrams (plus made a few corrections) - I'll post them up here in case they're useful for anyone else. |

Next job is installing an uprated blade type fuseboard, and putting all the switches and column controls back in.
