Identifying a Fuchs wheel 6 x 15”
Hello,
Finally getting around to checking out a few things on my new purchase, a 1977 911s Targa. The Fuchs spare wheel is unused and did not come new with the car. Based on the identification marks can you give me an idea as to the date range of this wheel. Unfortunately the two digits after the part numbers are missing and there are no dates stamped on the back of the wheel. Thanks for your help, Johnhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1665796390.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1665796410.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1665796430.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1665796455.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1665796477.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1665796508.jpg |
On the newer? wheels the date is stamped toward the center between the lug holes.

Thanks Gordon. I did check and nothing stamped in that area.

Is that wheel specific to a space saver, first time i've see that additional ring contour.

I also guess that this is a new rim from today. Afaik the Fuchs rims for the early Porsches were sold by Porsche only, and not by Fuchs itself. Therefore they had the Porsche stamp (triangle with "P" inside) and no Fuchs (fox) logo.
Some time ago the Fuchs company started to sell the rims with their own branding called the "Fuchs evolution", an improved version of the old Fuchs rims. But the number stamps on yours look awful, probably this is a pre-series one which has been re-stamped in the factory? Thomas, thanks for the information.
