Looks like an interesting build.. and nice to see a Pelican "long-termer" with a new project.

I've built a lot of cars over the years. I've just been very negligent in posting. Except for paint I do all the work myself. I even do some metal work when needed but prep and paint are best left to guys that do it every day.

Yep, completely understand as I fall into that same boat.. lots of prjects come and gone with no time to post. I paint most of the small items, trunk chassis/tub engine compartment but not overall body, but prep and some metal. It's nice to get into at that level.

Have one project thread I need to revive, a build for my cousin. However, since he's been off doing other things the last few years I'll let that one rest until we get started again. Have fun!

Very cool build coming from less than ideal circumstances.
Glad to see you breathe new life into it.

I hope your friend finds some peace.

Really nice build. Can’t wait to see the motor come together. It couldn’t have been a easy decision to strip it back down. Were there issues with the paint besides it not being the correct code ?

Yes, the paint was lifting. Most likely culprit was bad primer. It was only lifting on the hood and front fenders but I decided it was best to repaint the whole car.

A PITA to repaint the car. But it sure looks good wearing360 degrees of new paint, and paint that you know has gone on correctly. Other than looking great it also gives you confidence in it's corrosion protection.
