Rebuilding Mechanical Chain Tensioners

I'm rebuilding the original chain tensioners on my 77 911S, started hearing a rattle on the right rear side of the engine. Both chain tensioners had safety collars but the one side that rattled had a blue safety collar (pictured) about 30% larger than the grey one on the other side. Just wondering if that could be the problem?

Nevertheless, gonna rebuild both sides. If the idler arms look good then for a rebuild the only parts I need are rebuild kits, cover gaskets, chain ramps?

Truth be told, most times you only need the inner and outer o-rings on the aluminum disc and know the bleeding procedure. The outer o-ring usually blows out and air gets in. The check ball, seat and springs can live forever.

In summer '82, during a long trip, I fixed one of these in a parking lot with minimal tools and an O-ring that was close enough to function. It lasted throughout the rest of my ownership of that car. Agree you have a good plan.
