left side dash smoke

88 Carrera cabriolet. I got stuck in traffic yesterday for about 45 minutes. Turned off
motor and set ignition to radio to listen while sitting. About 30 minutes in I noticed
lite smoke coming out of left corner of dash. turned off ignition and appered to stop
When traffic cleared I drove home and everything appeared to operate fine. Took out
gauges and looked for some sort of burn area and nothing. Then I tried to operate
the convertible top and nothing. I can hear the click when I push switch but nothing.
There is supposed to be a fuse somewhere near the fuse panel but I can't find. Can
anyone point me to fuse or what I can check next. The top lock light is on so switches
for open and close appear to be working. Any help would be appreciated.

Tks Herman

Check your ignition switch- you’ll have to crawl under the dash or use a mirror/boroscope.

Footwell blowers smoke. usually they squeel for a while to let you know they're gonna croak some day.

If you can recreate the situation while looking under the dash or removing gauges, try pointing a infrared thermometer around could highlight the circuit that’s getting too hot in the Accessory position #1 maybe even find smoke source again. If nothing obvious, try same in ignition Position #2. Check fuse panel #1 or #3 which I believe they would operate top. Switch could be bad and added draw to overheat circuit. Aftermarket radio? wired properly?
