Sisal mats, not sure how I like this...
My Coco Mats were starting to fade and thought I'd try something different with the sisal mats. I thought red might look good, but I think I might be having second thoughts. What do you think?

I like them, but then again I like all-red interiors.
|
I would look for something different.
|
I'm kind of ambivalent, but they sure grab your attention, maybe a little too much.
|
Sisal in a different color (like dark brown) could have looked great.
Sisal wears well I believe. Might have gone with a Coco mat as well. |
Nice seats.
I'm thinking black or dark grey. Although the car is red the mats somehow don't seem to tie in with the color scheme. Don't know why. |
Need more red in the interior to go with the red mats. Tartan red seat inserts would have worked well with the red mats and tied the interior together. Red mats on their own just look out of place it seems.

Maybe they can be dyed black.
|
I differ and kinda like them. :)

There’s nothing inherently wrong with the red mats… but they do become the focal point of the car as they are of a different language than the rest of the interior which is all monotone and muted. So, if the intent is to draw attention to the floor then these are wildly successful, if that’s not the intention, then these fail.

try dark green....
|
May be a bit too much red.
|
I had the black/red coco mats, but the red had faded significantly and I was ready for a different look. I drove the car a bit yesterday, and I think I like the contrast with these. In any case, these are a pretty cheap way to change up the interior.

Your car, your taste.
That said I'm a fan of the mats matching the interior color. Just my $.02 |
I like 'em. Bold choice, but in a small spot. Not like an entire lobster interior. I wimped out fashionwise and went with black/grey Coco mats.
|
Can you return them?
|
It's either too much red, or not enough red.
The dash and/or the seats should be first focal points of an interior? You've made it the floor. Keep going. Michael J '78 SC w/brushed aluminum interior accents |

FrontGarage911,
"Can there be too much?" Sorry. That wasn't supposed to be my point. I was trying to say "add more or remove them". I'm not a fan of the all black interior. (Which is what my '78 has.) Driving at night is simply too dark for me. Everything is by feel. Try to explain to a newbie passenger how to open the door to get out. Anyway, I understand wanting to spice it up and the red mats are ok, but I like the idea of also adding red'ish tartan seat inserts and door panels. Maybe some red trim on the dash? Different reds can clash. so proceed carefully? Did anybody ask what color is the body? Michael J. |
