‘74 SC Tank in ‘73 Targa

I’m continuing to agonize over how to replace my fuel system. Part of what I’m considering is using the 85L ‘74 Carrera tank to make room for a forward mounted fuel pump.

Can anyone verify that the 85L tank for a ‘74 Carrera part 930 201 010 05 will actually fit in my ‘73 Targa. It would sure be good to know before ordering since return shipping would be costly.

It will fit.
You will need a space saver spare.

The tank vent size and location is a little different and I think the possibly the fuel outlet size might be different, but inline adapters will solve that.

Thanks very much. As it turns out, I already have a space saver spare and I’m replacing all the fuel lines as well, so I see the stars aligning.

Following up on this.

I see what appear to be the same tank, but one listed as 930 201 010 05 and another listed as 930 201 010 02

Is there a difference?

To get the fuel pump on the front you’ll need an aluminum cross member.
The fuel lines on the 73 are close to each other, the later tanks, the flow to the pump is on the left and the return is on the right side. The pump sits 6/8 inches down line from inlet.
I don’t see rational of spending money on another antique tank.
All the part numbers are for SC and later tanks, they’re all the same

I believe Len Cummings has a bracket that attaches the pump to the torsion bar. Or am I misinterpreting that ?

More follow up questions. Sorry for the incessant questions, but shipping on a tank is high $$ so I don’t want to risk needing to do a return. I want to get the tank shown in picture 1.

The Dansk catalog shows the Dansk number 1615600200 and Porsche numbers 93020101004, 93020101002 and 93020101005.

On the PP website the Dansk number shows one tank and the Porsche Parts number shows a different tank. (See picture 2) Does anyone know what’s up with that?

Do I correctly understand that this tank requires a strainer? Can someone tell me what I’m looking at in picture 3? Is there a threaded insert in there? Or what?

I appreciate any help.
