Heater backdate + fresh air update?
Just finished backdating the heating on a 78SC
My fresh air fan is having issues whining and stopping so I have to get inside and clean everything. While looking at the trunk air system, is there any simplification or upgrade for it, similar to the heater backdate?? Do folks do anything to their fresh air ducting or do people just repair it and leave the OEM configuration??? |

There are some articles on redoing the center vent for fresh air using a Y piece. I did it since my AC was removed and other than sourcing the connector, the only PITA is the pulling apart and putting back together of what is a most curious design!
You ll have to search the forums since I cant recall the author |

The Achtung ducts that direct the air at the occupants is an easy and worthwhile upgrade.

I wanted to simplify things, so I removed both air flapper boxes in the frunk and have the fresh air blower re-routed directly to the upper defrost vents. Center vents are blocked and not used. My fresh air HVAC controls now consist of a single dash knob for fan speed control.

When you route fresh air to the center vents, are the vents alway open, or do they open with the defroster vents?
