911 flywheel metal sensor

Hi All, I hope you can help me with this. I just replaced clutch, and re-machined the flywheel. But it does not start - no spark at all. So I think it might be that the machine shop removed the metal "stud or bolt" that" triggers the ignition. I am hoping that I might be able to "see" the stud/bolt from one of those access openings (where the sensor units are or down below). Can any of you provide insight on this?

If not, then I'll have to drop the motor and trans again. Ugh...Thanks...CLIF

If you remove the reference mark sensor (the one closer to the engine block) and watch with a very bright light while someone slowly turns the engine by hand you will be able to see it. There is no reason that should be removed to surface the flywheel but hey I am sure we have all had our episodes with machine shops. Don’t want to question your knowledge but are you sure you did not mix up the connections in the engine compartment with the speed sensor.

If the dowel is still there check it with a magnet. There have been some with a non magnetic stainless dowel and that doesn't work.

Thanks guys. I agree with Porschyard that I should double check the wiring first. In fact, the wires themselves look kinda wonky so was thinking of simply replacing them anyway.

+1 however I don't think you need to remove a sensor. Pretty sure I did it from directly under the car with small access hole at bottom of trans while my wife slowly turned the motor over with a wrench on the fan.

You are correct Jeff and actually it can probably be seen through the slight opening at the sensors but if the sensor comes out easy that will give the largest and easiest window to look through but as you pointed out it can be seen from the very bottom.
