Cleaning new gas tank
I just got a new Dansk tank. In the item description, it says it should be cleaned of manufacturing debris before use.
Does this about to just putting the strainer on and sloshing around a quart or so of gasoline and then let it drain out and clean the strainer? I don’t hear any loose stuff rattling around in there… |

From what I've read it's about cleaning out the preservative.

Good luck. Killed a fuel pump after rinsing the last dansk tank quite well. 1/2 hour down the road it ingested a particle that seized the pump. No room for a pre- filter really, so you have to invent something.

No issues using the Delphi FC01 Fuel Tank Cleaning Kit from Amazon. Used a compressor to blow it out immediately then rinsed with fresh fuel. No flash rust and no issues.

My Dansk tank has a strainer, so hopefully I’ll avoid a fuel pump tragedy.

I just recieved my new Dansk tank. Plan is to rinse it out well with white vinegar. Then rinse with water and then isopropyl alcohol followed by air drying.
