1968 Porsche 911

Does anyone know, the last aluminum 911L engine built in 1968? I guess what I'm looking for is the engine#.

901/06 #3080371 (from what I understand). Note that for a sporto version that's a different number for the 901/07 engine.

No,... that's the number of units for the 901/06 engine type. You asked for the 1968 911L series, and assuming a 5 speed gearbox I gave you the number, I assumed that's what you were looking for.

There are other series of engines from 1968 that are aluminum. As an example you can see in my signature that I have a 1968 factory rally car. It was a 901/30 engine in it, and there were 28 engines built in that run, and they are all aluminum.

Another example is the 1968 911L USA sportomatic, it's a 901/7 engine series.

Unfortunately I'm not in my office where I have the file that I pulled this from.

So, there's multiple engine types that all had aluminum engine cases in 1968. The Euro version of the 911L in 5 speed and sportomatic and the rally version that I have etc. etc.

When I get into the office on Monday, I'll pull the file.

Regards,
Eric
