Oil Cooler and Backdate Window Frame Pics
Well I was at EASY this weekend, looking into some of my projects. They sold an oil cooler setup a few weeks ago. Everything from the motor forward for an ungodly small amount of $$. I gave them my biz card so they'd call me when another came in.
The other thing I was thinking about was backdating the window frame so I could have a windwing in lieu of the AC I pulled out this weekend. So I did some basic research: ![]() ![]() So it seems that the old and new frames are identical except for the windwing. ![]() It looks like, in addition to the frame, there are two parts that hold the glass that would need to be painted/anodized. There is also the little dohickey below the windwing. Steve, the propieter told be that the old frames will fit on a newer car no problem. He also told me that the really early frames were brass, and then later they were aluminum. Finally he told me he sells them for about $105. But I be you could pickout one with really bad chrome (since it'll have to be sanded for painting anyway) and buy it for less. On Sunday I went to the Swapmeet at Parts Heaven. I was totally overwhelmed. I should have gone MUCH earlier. Well I did pick up one deal. I got a thermostat for my cooler project. I also got to check out the Elephant Racing Lines up close. Check it out! ![]() (That's my thermostat behind the yellow receipt) ![]() Think I'm gonna have to get these lines. I asked him if these lines ever break because of all the stress risers at every groove. He told me that he didn't know of any that had broken. He explained that after the tube was machined that it was annealed to relax the stress in prep for bending the tubes.

Mike,
That's me in the black hat behind Chuck's Easy-Up. I have the Elephant lines on my 86 CAB. They came on the car when I purchased it (From Elephant's own Chuck M.). I have put almost 5,000 miles on the car since I purchased it, with zero problems with the oil lines. I don't know how many miles were put on the car with the oil lines before I bought it, but I really doubt there will be any problems with the lines. |
