Tweeks weekend in Effingham, ILL
Anyone planning on going to the Tweeks Porsche gathering is Effingham this coming weekend?
They have moved it up a month this year to try to get a time where it is not so hot. I have never been but have heard that there will be many (a thousand???) Porsches there. If the weather holds I plan on attending. |

I don't think there've ever been a 1000 cars - close to half that during the best years...

philfran, where are you coming from?
I'm planning on going - spent the weekend doing some interior paint work on my car. I'm taking my significant other and our two kids - they don't like car shows but IT'S ON MY BIRTHDAY! If it doesn't rain we'll be there Saturday. I'm always a sucker for a free t-shirt. ![]() |

I've been twice and I would estimate the crowd at 300-400 Porsches. The first year it was well attended then the second not so well attended because they did not allow the swap meet and the temperature was in the mid 90's. This year I think the swap meet is back and that should help. The Corvette swap meet at the same location draws thousands (6,000-7,000) of Corvettes. I have family not far from there so we usually make a weekend of it.

CJ, I think Effingham is only 2-3 hours south of Chi-town.
Any other cheeseheads out there going? I'm pretty sure I'm heading down on Friday.

Effingham is two hours east/northeast of St. Louis.
St. Louis is six hours south/southwst from Chicago. I think it's about 4 hours from Effingham to Chicago I'd check on Mapquest but it's more fun this way. ![]() |

I'm going this Friday night (from Kansas City). Plan on staying through noon Sunday. I went last year and I would say there were about 400 cars there...but it was also 100 deg. that weekend.
