How is the light bulb in the heater control unit accessed / changed?

Thru the side flapt labeled 3 on the diagram. Remove it with care and you should be able to reach the bulb inside.

Has anyone attempted to remove the four bolts and, assuming the wiring is long enough, lift the heater control housing high enough to get access to the bulb?
I found this photo on the internet and circled what I think is the bulb holder (black-blue illumination primary wiring has been removed). Given its position, access via side hatch requires seat removal and access is blind via removal of the rubber boot covering the emergency brake. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1671208139.jpg |
Here are a couple of pics:
I would pull the passenger seat, the 4 mounting bolts to raise the assembly. Then remove the 4 side cover screws. Remove the knob from the top and slide the cover off and you will see the bulb (blu/w & brn wires) which slides into a hole in the switch. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1671280072.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1671280072.jpg |
Thank you, Steve!

Thanks again to wazzz and Steve for their guidance. Closing this loop:
1.) removed the passenger seat per Bentley Service Manual page 720. 2.) removed access panel from right side of heater control housing. 3.) using a pair of needle nose pliers, was able to easily remove the lamp assembly from the housing socket without having to removed the entire heater control housing. 4.) removed old bulb, replacing it with a new, readily available 12V, 1.2 watt bulb. 5.) installation reverse of removal. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1672070153.jpg |
