Flag mirror issues
Hi all, the mirror glass for my passenger side mirror started to slip out of place, so I popped it out to see what was going on. Apparently, this had been an issue in the past because the PO had used some super sticky adhesive to "glue" the glass in place. I noticed that the 3 pins designed to hold the glass in place didn't fit snugly into the holes. The mirror is missing the circled grommets, does anyone know where I can get these, or is there an alternative that I could use?

Your best bet, and the route I went, is to buy used mirrors on ebay and rob the parts you need. Finding just those grommets will be challenging.
A more typical problem is the metal clips on the glass come unglued, a good epoxy will extend the life. What part of the country are you in?

The flag mirror grommets are Porsche 999-703-128-40, still available, very inexpensive. I just picked up three, as my passenger side was missing all three, which I discovered after removing the glass. Glass broke off at all three clip attachments.
By comparison, drivers side glass pulled out very easily without issue, as all three grommets were installed. |

Is anyone doing work on their mirrors replacing the mirror glass with one that is concave? Had a hard time finding concave last time I looked and my current passenger side mirror is flat which diminishes it's usefulness.

My flag mirror glass is flat, though I’ve seenConvex glass, noticeably with the etched “Objects Are Close Than They Appear” for the passenger side and is also still available from Porsche.
Try searching Convex (mirror glass) versus Concave for the proper year and model. |

dversdzn….once you replace the mounting grommets and regarding attention to the little bayonets on the back of mirror that get inserted into those mirror base grommets - try to separate and expand the them a very little bit with a small screwdriver, it will them more friction hold once inserted back into the grommets. It’s possible they were too loose and mirror popped out.
I think the your mirror was replaced and the grommets maybe pulled out with the old mirror…again keeping in mind if the bayonets are too loose, the glass will fall out when slamming the door. Photo copied from Rennlist. ![]() |

I'm not sure, but they might be the same size as the door card grommets.
if you google on 3C0853586 they will show up (available on amazon in Europe).
