Feedback on Maxilite 8" Wheels - Excellent Quality!

I installed Maxilite 16"x 8" wheels from "Fixer".

Quality is excellent and he's a great person to do business with. Transaction was simple and I received the wheels three business days after payment through Paypal.

I moved the 7's to the front and the stance is perfect. I'm running Michelins 205 / 225. Also, my original center caps fit with no issues.

I would highly recommend these wheels.

Thanks,

That was a good idea, I'm glad you're happy ! The stance looks perfect.

What model Michelin specifically? They look perfect for my current build.

Matt

Looks great! Wanting to do the same on my 86. How was the Maxilite finish compared to the Fuchs 7s?

I went with Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2 (Ultra high Performance Summer). They are great so far.

Honestly I can't give good feedback on this one. My car sat outside for 10 years so the original Fuchs are a bit weathered but the finish on the Maxilite wheels looks great.

Took your recommendations and got a pair of 16x8 from Fixer/Matt, but kept the 6s upfront. Great purchase and love the look of the 8s, now just need to adjust the height and get the stance just right.

The Maxilites seem to be a reasonably good alternative. Pricing looks to be approximately $235 for 16x8. The new Fuchsfelge 16x8 is near $700.
One downside is the weight difference. 17.5 lbs for the Maxilite 16x8, vs 12.7 lbs for the Fuchsfelge in the same size.

??? where d'you get that from!

17,5 lgs= 7,94 kg
12,7 lbs= 5,76 kg

I recently got my second set and absoluteley cannot say that there is a near 2kg difference in weight per wheel for 8x16.
I measured aproximately 400 gramms.

When I first got my 16 x 8's (951 wheels) they came with tires so I put them on the back with the 6's up front. I thought that gave me really severe understeer.

The 16 x 7's with 225's rubbed so I put the 205's on the 7"s . Steering is a bit heavier but I am happy with the handling.

may be an issue with camber toe setting.

I run 7x16/205-55 front and 8x16/225-50 rear (no spcers at all) for years now.

lowered to F63/R62cm and camber at F-1.4/R-1.05 it handles great in corners without being nervous on full throttle straights (autobahn 200-240km/h).

Here is a video on how you can in 5 minutes make the Maxilite RSR wheel look great and MUCH better than Stoddard's finish which is just the regular cheaper satin black/diamond cur wheel taped differently.

My way looks terrific and is simple and fun. The reason is that you're starting with a polished wheel, the other "proprietary finish" is not. It's just an immersion paint procedure to try and look like an anodized finish but the way I show you looks more like an anodized wheel. In fact the finish looks just like some original Fuchs made in 1970 that I have in the shop.

If you've already mounted tires on your RSR finish wheels it's simple enough to still do.

i like it… though the common RSR finish has kind of ice-ed/matt/blasted pedals and just a polished lip outer edge...

I said I only spent 5 minutes lol 😉

So tape off the outer lip and compound more and there you go . The more you compound the more iced the finish becomes.

The 17s have finally landed. I'll have the first batch in May.

I bugged Maxilite to make these and they're here. . 7, 8, 9, and 10x17s

This is excellent news!

Here's a "deep 8" I made out of two deep 6s.

I took the excessive shine off the "RSR finish" to look much better. Takes about 10-15 minutes per wheel.
