Been sitting 78sc fuel system thread

14 years sitting about three years since it’s run. I ordered a fuel pump and filter and an accumulator (ordered) for general purpose. Gas tank could be saved but cleaning isn’t worth my time. So I’ll buy a new one. I flushed feed and return line with liquid fuel and compressed air. Anything else to check before I throw the meat to this thing? Air valve behind air cleaner is free and flaps easily. Which so far I’m stoked about.

I just went through this exact scenario in an 88. The car sat for 17 years. I removed the tank, new fuel level sensor, new fuel pump blew out all the lines, fuel filter, removed all injectors and had them cleaned and flow tested. Removed plugs, sprayed fogging oil in the holes. Manually turned the motor over, making sure it wasn't frozen. Changed oil, turned over with starter until pressure came up. Installed plugs and fuel system and she came back to life. Oil had leaked into one of the heat exchangers, so she smoked really bad. I had to clean the heat exchanger. Have a fire extinguisher handy just in case you have a fuel leak.

Brakes and clutch had to be bled, but for the most part the car did very well sitting for so long.

It took weeks to get that bad gas smell out of my nose and garage! Good luck.
