Installing AC Trinary Switch - help identifying plug
All,
Just getting through a project, part of which is installing a trinary switch into my AC system. I won't get into all the details, but this switch (from an Isuzu believe it or not), is the best combination for the mechanical and electrical install, but I can't find out where to get a plug that will fit it. I had thought it was a standard Bosch plug, but so far no luck....so hoping that one of you can identify it. Thanks for any help you might give... D, |

Can’t help you with the exact part search, but I used this kit from Vintage Air with great success with my previous LS swap Miata project.

Yup, saw that one, but the configuration doesn't allow it to fit....I am fitting a 964 AC system into an earlier car, so the need is quite specific unfortunately...hence the switch I got.
Thanks though! D. |
Could you show a side pic of the connector?
Also you may want to try this website or contact them with a couple of pics. |
I think I found it, it is a VW/Audi part p/n 357 919 754, our host sells the plastic housing but not the female pins.
Local VW dealer sells the pins - $25 EACH - so $100 for the 4 I need. I am looking for alternatives, seems like there are some online, so hopefully I can buy a complete plug/pins. Just need to find the Schraeder valve that it threads on to, may just head to a wrecker and look for the appropriate VW/Audi and take it off. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1672778566.jpg D. |
Why not buy the whole thing from eBay -
If you don't want to use the wires that come with it, I'd pull the pins out, measure them, and get the equivalent pin size from Digi-key. $25/pin is flat out highway robbery. |
I put my HI/LO trinary pressure switch from Vintage Air in the refrigerant line at the back of the compartment right below the fans. There a lot of line to work with so it can go most anywhere that you can run the harness to your relay, fans and compressor.

If you can (and have them in Holland), make a trip to your local auto wrecker and stroll around in the yard. I'm guessing you will find any number of possibilities.

Hey guys, thanks for all the responses....I am following up on your ideas.
1. Heading to a wrecker to see if I can get the whole thing off of a wreck. 2. I found an Alibaba item that will sell me the plug and the pins for like $10 each, but long delivery time, so hopefully ide No. 1 pays off. 3. Because it's a 964 AC system fitted to an early '89 chassis, the best location for the trinary switch is actually in the front DS fender as part of the receiver/dryer assembly. I am going to see if I can machine the dryer assembly to take a standards schraeder valve as an option. Thanks again! D. |

https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/357919754-4-pin-terminal-block-skoda-29539.html You obviously need the part # for the pins; PET (yes, VW/Audi also use PET) usually lists these towards the back. But the Skoda web site helpfully says you'll be needing these terminals for @ 0.51 Euro each, which seems about right: https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/6u0972505a-terminal-pin-2-8mm-skoda-16642.html The connector and terminals really look like Junior Power Timer stuff to me, eg: https://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/product_info.php/products_id/1754 Quote:
https://www.amazon.com/conditioning-pressure-connector-harness-8D0959482B/dp/B08YDFF35G seems to indicate the screw-on part is a "Behr 8D0959482B Hi Pressure Switch" . Buy the genuine Behr switch on it's own: https://www.amazon.com/Behr-8D0959482B-Hi-Pressure-Switch/dp/B009HA96JA Or generics on Flea Bay from about $13 USD. |
