Battery Tender Jr is unbeatable at $25 unless you need more features than "tend the battery."

I have the CTEK Multi-US. It’s been working great for many, many years.

I am a big fan of the Deltran tenders. The jr's only charge at .75 amps and are really made for atv's, mowers, etc. Will work on a car unless the battery needs charging or goes down during tending and it will burn out. I have had 2 do this, and the warranty isnt very long.
I would go for the TENDER PLUS model. It charges at 1.25amps and has a ten year warranty. I run about four of these and one 2 bank model. In 2o years I have only had one of the Tender plus models quit and it was replaced under warranty. They run 24/7. The battery in my FFR cobra is 11 years old and still going. It has always been on a tender. I have quick connects on all my stuff (mowers, tractors, etc) and rotate the tenders around all the time. I get good battery life out of most of my stuff. Those small mower batteries have really jumped in price. Like everything else! |

Curious...
Are you referring to the dual batteries in your 70 911? Are the gel batteries hooked up in series? Are you trying to charge both at once? Does your car need two gel batteries to turn over? Bill K

One other consideration: If you think you might own a lithium (LiFePO) battery at some point, think about getting a charger/tender that can charge both types.

Yes, dual batts - one in each front fender. 70 911E
Gel Batts connected in series. Yes, charge both with one tender (I realize it'll take longer. Yes both needed to start. |

I run on a single NAPA Group 70 AGM battery with side terminals. 4 years so far, no troubles. It will crank the engine for a long time (yes, I've had to do it for troubleshooting). I put it in the right front battery box to partially offset my lard ass in the left seat. When it's time to replace your dual batteries, consider going to one.

The 69-73 911 batteries are wired in parallel. They are both 12 volt. I usually only have one battery in each of my 911 and have never needed both to start them.

Some just like to keep the original battery setup. I ran one battery for years, but it just looked wrong.
Just put the charger on one ground and one positive without disconnecting the batteries and both will charge. Just like the alternator does it.

I've had a deltran two bank one for a while but I'm switching over to Noco chargers/ maintainers. I had a battery tender jr. that kept ruining batteries. Just my experience.
