A "like" button!?
I really really... REALLY need that "like button" for this forum...
![]() Just so you don't have to copy a post, to write you agree, love it, think the same, etc... Is there any way it can be done? (And have 1000 before me asked about it? ![]() It will of course require a lot of work with coding and restructuring of the forum. But I actually think it would ease the amount of data, that has to be stored and processed by the website (best in the world)... Since it will reduce eg repeatet uploading of images etc!? Like button is long gone already.
This forum does not need it.

They added one a few years ago. It was short lived, and I have no idea why.

I suppose the argument could be that in a technical forum, "like" really doesn't have a place. Information is pretty much self-regulating for accuracy, and for the most part, when corrected, all parties either agree, or agree to disagree. If you like something, not sure it takes more than a few seconds to say that, and subscribe to the thread. Or thank the poster for info that is valuable to you.
Caveat - admittedly, not a huge fan of social media (facebook etc...).

I wish there were a "like" button so I could click on it for this last post from FA-18C.

I'm good with tools.

I'm with the "Meh" crowd...... I am personally offended when someone likes me or my opinion.

I work with teenagers and have been poisoned by the “like” ethos. So it’s a major “MEH” for me. Agree with FA-18C’s reasoning on this one.

I participate in several technical online forums for cars and motorcycles. People use the like button on those not to gain popularity points, but as a shorthand for concurrence with the poster on that post or topic. I find it handy. If someone disagrees with that post, they type out why. Then the discussion continues.

Pete - I am not a my way or the heck with you kind of person. Maybe a better question regarding the suggestion is "what does a like button really add?" I think the fact that there was one in the past and it was removed begs the question. I have a business, and understand the value to positive reviews, or "likes." I still contend that participation through contribution is the value added in this forum. Number of posts essentially is the number of likes, or in some instances dislikes. Buttons turn the forum into a McDonalds cash register. In many ways, just hitting a like button may give someone the feel or participating without any effort, and anonymity. Social media is a better place for that. FWIW, I really don' care at all, but the OP can let someone know they really like something exactly how he did in another thread. By typing out some words...Just my two cent opinion.

I wish there was a way to go the last read post when clicking on a thread, that would be very convenient.

After looking at all of the tools the forum has, they actually have a version of a LIKE - there is a thread Rating drop down with stars... There are so many different tools that I have not even figured out, or will likely never use. But, something for all users.
