Oil? in my tunnel
Waiting for my shift coupler and I noticed that there is fluid in my tunnel. Any ideas on where i should start looking or is this normal. I wouldnt think it would be.

Probably dribbling out of the shift rod seal on your tranny. It is possible to replace this while the tranny is still in the car, but it's tricky. The seal is located where the shift rod enters the point of the tranny that pokes into the tunnel.

Could also be migrating up the speedo cable from the trans angle drive.....

As others have said, it is the input shaft seal. If anyone has changed this seal on a 911 with the trans in the car I would be interested to hear how it went. It is difficult enough to remove the seal with the trans out of the car.

Paul, I did my G50 shifter shaft seal with the tranny in situ. PITA, but I think it is easier than the 915. Here is the tech article about how to do it.

This is no help to you but I thought I'd share what I found in my 73.
The car leaked like a sieve everywhere plus the rubber boots around the shift coupler were totally gone when I got it. The cas was from Wyoming and had obviously been on a lot of dirt roads (a lot of times too). The tunnel was full of an oily dirt/sand mix. My daughter and I spent about half an hour one Saturday using plastic spoons and removed about 2 pounds worth of it. Enjoy your project, it could have been worse.

I did it with my 901 in place using the Pelican procedure. Yup - it was a PITA. But after about 30 - 40 minutes at hacking the old seal out, putting the new one is was a piece of cake.
