Bilstein b8 on a 964
Hi everybody
I'm about to buy new shocks for my 964 c2, I have found a nice deal on a pair of Bilstein B8. I read in some of the threads that poeple say they fit 964. But where thay sell them it's always for 993 or 964 turbo. Can anybody clear this up for me? Do Bilstein B8 nürburgring tested fit the 964 C2? Regards |
Deepened if you are wanting to run stock height or lowering it.

So they do fit. Yes I'd like to lower the car but anywhere I look it says they fit only 993 or 964 turbo. I thought i saw somewhere that they should for 964 c2 but now I can't find it again.

The 964 group on Rennlist is more active than the one here. There's a thread from maybe Oct 2021 about "best suspension for a street car" or something like that, if you do a search there.

B8 are for lowered cars, B6 for normal ride height cars. Otherwise the same shock.

Can be made to fit quite easily by using a reducer washer , but the sellers you’ve seen do it right and differentiate between 964 & 993 . Many manufacturers say fits both 964&993 which is incorrect from a like-for-like bolt strait on perspective. |

Reducing washers would be my choice over drilling out the cast 964 carrier .
Iirc kw started including the washers when people first called them out on the V-range marketed as 964/993 when the first came out and wouldn’t fit 964 . They might sell them as a separate item , or other suspension companies might . I think I also remember rebel or rennline selling them . If not , they shouldn’t be too hard to get made at a local machine shop . Let us know what you find out . |

Tnx guys, I'll see if I can get them washers. Otherwise drilling I guess. But thats a precision work for a machine shop I'm presuming. This is the Bilstein B8 35-195283 i have, the holes are sligthly bigger as were pointed out here. |

Ok I think I see what you mean now. The upper bolt is a M12 and the lower is a M14. So it's either a reducer washer on the lower or drill the carrier out. As I mentioned before thats sounds like nothing you do by your self with a handdrill, or is it doable? |
You could get the carriers machined , but I would want to have them crack tested .
Much easier to make a reducing bush/washer like on the top hole in this pic . 14mm on the outside , 12mm on the inside , and length the same as strut mounting . http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1673959906.jpg |

Picking up this thread again.
No problem fitting the shocks with the reducer spacers but they sit fairly high.They were suppose to lower the car, is it the lighter weight of the 964 that makes it stay high? Any ideas? I've adjusted the shocks to lowest settings. |
