Porsche Crest Loose wire, A/C clutch

P-car people, I have a loose wire under the passenger seat with a big plug on the end. Does anyone know what it's for? It has a bundle brown, red, black wires covered by sleeve and it looks like a relay on the end but I'm not sure. Heated seats maybe? Also how hard to replace a/c clutch, mine is wobbly. TIA

Are you sure the clutch is the problem? Sounds like the bearings in the compressor may be shot. Do you have what looks like a dirty spray up under the rear decklid, near the compressor? If so, the compressor seal is shot and it's spraying compressor oil on to the decklid.

The unit is supposedly rebuilt, It never beat the Texas sun however, I sweated it out last year, then started getting a vibration in the car about 3 months ago and the outer pulley was wobbly, so I cut the belt till I could regroup. Summer is back!
PS. Thanks for tip on the DME, since I replaced it no cut-offs!

Take a look up under your decklid, near the compressor. I'm willing to bet you'll see oil sprayed up there. If so, then the seals are shot on the compressor and it will have to be rebuilt (again). There's a Pelican tech article on rebuilding your own compressor, if you're so inclined. If you have to buy a rebuilt, Compressors International in Van Nuys, California has pretty good prices.

Porsche a/c is mediocre, at best, so don't plan on being too cool during a Texas summer!

I'm glad the DME relay worked out.
