She’s a targa again!

My car was a victim of a targa-> cab conversion, which is very unfortunate and I cannot comprehend why anyone would ever want to do that.

After countless hours of measuring and fitting, the roll bar is finally fully welded in and ready to receive the back window.

I’m not going to lie, this is probably one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done. Now wish me luck as I struggle putting this window in.

Here are some progress pictures

Congrats on making it to this point, it looks good so far. I also see that you are working with a slant-nose rig: was that also someone’s handy work done at the time of the cab-creation?? …or is that “factory”?

Thanks. Yes, I believe it was all done together. The full steel slant nose conversion and the targa -> cab.

I wish you much luck on installing that rear targa window. I was once part of a 5 man crew on that job, 3 of which were very knowledgeable on how to do it. It wasn't fun.

I installed the rear windshield by myself... it was actually a clean install. I guess I got lucky. A 2x4 under the car and slowly ratchet the glass down while checking the seal go in place. I couldn't believe how easy it went.

Looking good! I shipped a Targa roll hoop to someone a few years back, wondering if this is it finally on the car. If so, glad that it was put to good use :-)

What were the basic steps you to reinstall the targa bar?

Stare at the car for hours, measure, remeasure, pace back and forth, measure again.

Thanks all. Will update when I try putting this window in this weekend.

Like Dennis said, fitting everything over and over again. Measuring multiple times on every angle. Using the targa bar cover as a guide helped also.

I thought putting the seal and trim on the window was the easy part.
What a huge pain in the a**

It’s all where it’s supposed to be but man I don’t ever want to do it again

She’s a targa again!

Well it's a targa now officially... After months dreading the back window install, I finally did it.
I did it by myself and it really was not bad at all.
If anyone has a chopped up targa and wants to convert it back, feel free to contact me. I wrote up a quick guide of the process.
