Taromina Oil Filter Console
Hey,
Anyone know what the thread is on the bottom port of the taromina oil filter console? I just purchased one of the early ones. I assumed it was NPT, but it seems to be straight cut. The thread looks like it matches -16an, but if thats the case, shouldn't it be ORB and have the little recess and chamfer for the o-ring? Looks like the later ones came with an adapter to -16 male. I'm looking at an early one with just the female threads. Maybe a long shot, but I appreciate any help. Thanks!! |

Don't have a Taormina console, but it's common to have a straight thread same as -16 but flat face with small recess for an O ring on the female side. If it's that, the correct fitting would be AN16 cone on one end, straight thread on the other.

Adam told me it was AN 16.

Mepstien, you got the one I wanted out of Oz. Good purchase! I bought the modified one that just popped up.
This may very well be straight AN thread as pointed out above and confirmed by Adam. The only issue is that I don't see the o-ring boss that usually comes with straight AN thread. I thought you'd always see an o-ring recess and chamfer in the case of straight thread ORB fittings. Maybe not an issue here, I can just use an ORB fitting with some sealant on the threads instead of the o ring. Not like there is any pressure here. |

If there's no relief for an O ring, an aluminum or copper sealing ring would work as well. Either way, make sure it's soft since the other parts involved are aluminum and you don't want to mar them.

Probably won't come as a surprise that the guy who made it knew the correct size.
I snagged a -16 ORB out of my oil thermostat, and it threaded right in. It was a tight fit for a threaded connection. I have no doubt that it would seal just fine with a bit of sealant or loctite. I'll be going that route. Thanks everyone. Unfortunate that I spelled the company name wrong in the title. And for the record, I still think it's strange that he didn't add the o-ring feature. I was shopping eBay for the cutter, but it's a spendy little unit for just one part. Last edited by NotStock; 01-25-2023 at 04:23 PM.. |

Ok, got a final answer. It is -16ORB, omit the o-ring and use hi-temp loc tite.
Thanks everyone. |
